Nyx
This chick went on about parasites and getting sick from the blood. Nyx rolled her eyes and just smiled, fang-baring and twisted. She pulled her smile to hide her teeth, aiming for something a little less 'axe murderer' and a little more 'nice' (if you can even call it that).
"Aww, babe... don't worry so much about me. It's not like dipping my paw in a little blood is gonna give me heartworms." She spoke sickly sweet. She glanced over when Emmett spoke up, trying to break this up like she and this Lorielle were having a real fight. He went over by a clean spring, took a nice long drink, and made such a show of how refreshed he was, Nyx couldn't help but shake her head and laugh. She was just making her way over—mostly because she didn't want to be left by herself with Lame Lori. Emmett started on about the whole three names thing. Though Nyx would normally scoff, roll her eyes, and tune it out when somebody started getting into their backstory, she was admittedly curious.
Nyx let out a snort, partly because of the 'family legacy' thing and partly because of that 'intrafamilial relations' comment. Oh, and because he said the word 'anal.' Yeah. She had a real mature sense of humor. "I think I get it now," she said. "Y'know, where I'm from, we were all just part of one family, so it's not like we needed more than one name. But our neighbors, that keeping track of bloodlines and crap was a pretty big deal to them, so they'd have second names too. Their aristocrats would anyway... never heard of anyone with three names, though." She paused for a moment, looking down at the fresh pool in thought. She tilted her head.
"Come to think of it, they lived south of my old pack. Maybe it is a southern thing." The pack she spoke of didn't exactly live in the south, considering her very northern origins, but it's not like she knew just how south Emmett was talking.
She turned back when Lorielle spoke again, and man, did she sound ticked. It brought a wry grin to Nyx's face to see she'd stirred something up in her. But then she frowned and pulled her ears back when she noticed the words. "And I love a female who’s long dead." A female? Wait, what? Hold on. So this chick was...? She couldn't think of any other time where she'd seen this many wolves that were apparently like that, let alone who talked about it so plainly.
Nyx shook it off and said, "No wonder you're such a drag, all that baggage is weighing you down. Guess what? Nobody cares about your dead girlfriend." What the hell was with these kinds of wolves, who just whined about their tragic life to strangers? What did she expect, sympathy? To make Nyx feel bad for being so mean? Typical. Emmett had said something but she barely even noticed with this crap going on.
Lorielle started walking away and Nyx said nothing else to her. She looked over at Emmett with a rather dour look on her face, thinking back on what he said but all she really made out was something about catching fish. She squinted her eyes shut for a moment and tried to smooth out her brow and snout. She shook herself out. "You were saying you wanted to go fishing or something, right? I don't know where we'd even find fish, but I heard a stream on the way here. That might be a good spot."
