Nikolai nodded as the wolves already started to separate into two groups with little prodding. "I was at Crystal Cascade yesterday morning, and the hunters have been to the hunting grounds, so it's safe to say Quartz is not in those areas. Which leaves the Pine Forest and the Grassy Meadows.." He glanced at Opal then and asked, "Do you want the forest or the meadows?" He expected some of the wolves found the Pine Forest a bit more intimidating than the sunny Grassy Meadows. The forest could be a bit dark and foreboding, not for the faint of heart. So he let Opal choose where she wanted to go with her group.
As he waited for her answer he added, "We should signal, howl, if someone finds Quartz but if not we return here first." he eyed some of the wolves in both groups that he knew to be impulsive, and if they neared the border to Darkest Hollow he hoped no one did anything stupid. His eyes landed on Ias who was standing next to him, she seemed impatient and he knew she was the type to act first think later. Nikolai hated doing anything without a plan. "Remember, we come back here first if we don't find the alpha and then we'll figure out who will go to Darkest Hallow."
Nikolai's face was grim. He had little hope they would actually find the alpha, if they did it probably wouldn't be good, she'd have to be dead or close to it for her not to return. If she was in Darkest Hollow...if she was alive he was determined to save her, but they had the disadvantage of having to go into their territory. The Darkest Hollow pack had the upper hand, and Nikolai didn't like that. Not at all.
