PROLOGUE
The sun was rising over the mountaintops as Cedar traversed the lonely path somewhere in the Rocky Mountains. His search for a mate was beginning to become hopeless... he had dispersed almost a year ago and he still had no luck in finding a mate. He either found absolutely nothing or a potential mate rejected him for whatever reason. Cedar was growing impatient and angry, he kicked a rock in frustration and thought... was he destined to be alone? After all, all of his siblings died at 1 month old, leaving him to be the sole survivor of his litter for the longest time, and now he couldn't find a mate. It seemed if fate had cursed him. Cedar hopelessly sniffed the air, but he caught a familiar scent - a female dispersal. Cedar was delighted, but he knew what would happen. He would either not find her or get rejected. It was inevitable now. Cedar followed the scent and found a beautiful tan wolf. Cedar stood there, not knowing if he should just leave or try one last time. Before he could decide, the she-wolf looked over to him, her beautiful green eyes sparkling with delight. Cedar smiled, awkwardly wagging his tail. The she-wolf got up and approached him, she clearly seemed interested. Once the she-wolf approached him, Cedar mustered up the courage to talk to her.
"Hi." Cedar said, smiling at the beautiful she-wolf.
"Hello." The she-wolf said, she gave Cedar a sniff, and Cedar did the same.
"Uh..." Cedar mumbled, "How's your day?"
"It's good." The she-wolf said, "Yours?"
"Okay, i guess." Cedar said. He was about to say 'quite lonely' but every time he did he'd get rejected because he'd sound obvious for trying to find a mate... in the wrong way.
"That's good." The she-wolf stated. "I... was just about to go hunting. Would you like to join me? I know it sounds weird but i like hunting with other wolves."
Cedar smiled, "I'd love to."
"What's your name?" The she-wolf asked.
"Cedar." Cedar replied. "Yours?"
"River." River said. "Well, let's go hunting." River began to trot somewhere, and Cedar followed. Little did he know that the following evening, River would ask if they wanted to be mates. When evening came, just that happened, and Cedar was more than delighted and accepted the offer, and that choice would begin a story that could either make someone's life better or destroy it.
Author's Note: The beginning of Stag, Moose and Doe's story! I decided to start off with a small backstory to get to know the parents a little. Cedar is their father while River is their mother. Sorry for it being short, Chapters will definitely be longer!
Hope you enjoyed!
